John McRae assumed
the position of Senior Director, Grants and Development, American
Institute of Architects (AIA) in October, 2003. In this capacity,
he oversees the Institute Research Agenda and coordinates current
activity and secures corporate sponsorship for Institute projects.
Prior to this role, Mr. McRae held the position of Vice President,
Education and Training, for RTKL Associates, Inc. from September,
2001, through August, 2003. RTKL is an architectural/design services
firm with ten offices, worldwide. In this position, he was responsible
for development and implementation of a comprehensive program of
education and professional development and enrichment for the firm.
An NCARB certified architect, Mr. McRae served as Dean of the School
of Architecture at Mississippi State University for fourteen years
prior to joining RTKL. He earlier served on the teaching faculty
and in administrative positions at the University of Florida, College
of Architecture, for twenty years. Mr. McRae is a Past President
(97-98) of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.
Effective August 1, 2005, Mr. McRae will return to academia as Dean
of the College of Architecture and Design, The University of Tennessee.
