John Cary is
the executive director of Public Architecture, a San Francisco-based
nonprofit organization. In that capacity, he oversees Public Architecture's
four pro bono design projects as well as the "1% Solution,"
an NEA-sponsored program through which firms nationwide pledge one
percent of their billable hours to communities-in-need that could
not otherwise afford professional design services. John served as
co-chair of the 2002 Internship Summit, organized by ArchVoices.
He has lectured and published widely on the topics of internship
and licensure. Having earned his Bachelor of Arts in architecture
from the University of Minnesota and his Master of Architecture
from UC Berkeley, John is a candidate for architect registration
in California.
